Think people need to drop the notion that one of our CBs might turn into a holding MF. Collins had two game there for Stokes U18s at 16, O'Shea one game at 18 for the U23s, and Omobamidele two games at 17 for their U18s.

No club felt like these lads could play more games there especially at a higher level. Don't think any of them have played that role in our underage.

And in a back three with Collins in the middle he'll likely come out of defence and step up into midfield with the ball like he's done at times when playing that role.

Lenihan always fancied himself there, he wanted to be a midfielder rather than a centre half. Maybe he could do it but none of his managers seems to have gone for the idea and it’s probably too late now to re-invent himself.

Seems to have had a baptism of fire at Middlesbrough.

I was thinking we should try Collins as a #10 after that goal against Ukraine

All fine players. Great situation. Something great about the ceiling of Collins, O'Shea and Omobamidele though and they should all be very well placed in the medium term. Short term is tight.

Really awkward on the ball. Doubt he has the ball control and composure to play there. Be like a deer in headlights.

Awkward on the ball ? Clueless ! He is very comfortable in possession and is also very mobile. Could do a job as CDM imo

Crazy take. See his performance v Serbia and his playing around and through Serbian players pressing.

I was taking the piss! "Omobambidele". "Bambi". I thought someone would've pointed it out by now.

It's one of those things that keeps cropping up LOL  2 years ago, it was O'Shea, 6 months ago it was Collins and it's been mentioned about Omobamidele since he made his debut.

Can we not just let our players play in their natural positions. There's a big difference in having the play in front of you as opposed to taking the ball under pressure with your back to the opposition goal.

I think it stems from the fact that our goalkeeper situation is grand, we've got three very capable keepers and whichever one is chosen you'd be happy.

Centre back we've got - Collins, oshea, lenihan, omobamidele, Duffy and Egan all looking solid

Midfield is a massive problem area for us, knight is playing Right Back in league 1, Molumby is in and out of the west brom team, Cullen is probably the only one that is solid and he's recently moved to Burnley for as low as 3million.

Forwards pretty much the same.

What does Cullen's price have to do with anything?

Well generally speaking, the transfer market acts as an indicator as to how good a player is are potentially could be. There are caveats to this such as the age, position, sell on value, and contract the player is on.

When you see that our best midfield option at the moment, is valued at 3million in a market that has been bloated for decades. There can be a few things going on here, 1. Hes been undervalued, 2. Hes not seen as someone who would improve the team. There are many other variables too.

I'm aware of all of this. Strip out the noise. He is efficient and effective for Ireland and widely well regarded in his role. No?

Stripping out the noise, I think he's brilliant. Great on the ball, runs himself into the ground, technically very good and has a very good range of passing.

The market, for reasons beyond me, only value him at 3 million.. personally, I think the "market" has got it wrong but as I said, it's only an indicator
