Great to see him finding the net again. Probably not enough to secure him a plaice in the squad though

I'd rather pick young Scales ahead of him, he'll be a fish out of water in the Ireland team

I sea he's worked on his finishing. Used to find roe Z more than the back of the net. He's got more shellfish in front of goal.

I'm hearing from a source close to Kenny that Connor Sammon is going to be included as he fits the tactics we will deploy against the Slovaks

Set up 2 goals against Austria in 2013.  Never put a foot wrong for us.

Nor a foot right, which is an achievement

Sammon to be included in Euro squad
by Daniel McDonnell

27th September 2020 23.45 BST
© Independent News and Media

Stephen Kenny will announce his squad at FAI headquarters on Tuesday for the upcoming Euro 2020 semi final playoff clash with Slovakia in October. The ex Dundalk boss is believed to have included Falkirk's Conor Sammon, bringing the ex UCD man back into the fold after a seven year absence having been ignored by the last two regimes under Martin O'Neill and Mick McCarthy.  The shock move is due to reasons believed by sources close to Kenny that saw Ireland's attack looking toothless against Bulgaria and Finland. Kenny sees Sammon as back up to David McGoldrick with the option of playing the Falkirk striker on the right of a front three.  Callum O'Dowda is unlikely to be fit, with Glenn Whelan's unpopular omission believed to continue for now.  Shay Given has informed Stephen Kenny that he is still available for selection but was told he is not in Kenny's plans.  Sources close to the Irish supremo suggest that he is considering reverting to a 4-4-2 for the clash but will probably plump for his customary 4-3-3 with the limited opportunities to drill a new system in time. This will be Kenny's third match in charge of the senior side and with two poor performances and qualification on the line the pressure is already mounting on the new incumbent.

I'm surprised more hasn't been made of the deeply controversial omission of Sammon.

He could've been the difference. And that's on Kenny.
