Topic: Congrads to Spain Posted: 29 Jun 2008 at 4:34pm |
Certainly deserved it on the night and overall IMO. Germany disappointed me tonight. They started off great but just faded away and in the end they looked out on their feet.
Seeing all the Spanish students out on the streets celebrating around my way reminded me of the World Cup in 2002 when it was Irish out celebrating...please god those times arent too far away!!

The best team won. Well done Spain. Far rather see Spain win it that the like of the Italian tramps anyday. Shame Germany didn't put up a better fight though. Fair play to them for getting that far though.

Yeah, well done Spain. I was getting sick of the English commentators over here going on and on about the "English" players in various sides. It was particularly annoying to keep hearing about Kasim Richards of Turkey but even more so about the Scouce Torres. The commentator (John Heljm, I think it was) went on about Torres after the match and even said something like "that will put him in good spirits for Liverpool for next season". WTF! I doubt if he was even thinking about Liverpool yesterday. Great goal by Torres, though.

listened to most of the Spain game on live5 as was in car, graham "turnip" taylor was co-commentator. They were on about the mental block of spain not getting past QFs, Turnip head pipes up and says "hope that lasts as if Spain were to win the euros, england would have longest drought of winning a major tourney of the big euro nations, Spains last was euros 64. Hope to GodSpain win it now, if Italy get knocked out |

Reading TC's post there makes it even better.

Eamonn Dunphy:"I'll tell you who wrote it, Rod Liddle, he's the guy who ran away and left his wife for a young one".
Bill O'Herlihy: Ah ye can't be saying that now Eamonn

Count, correct me if I am wrong, but isn't one of the rules of this forum is that 1966 and some of the events within that year are never mentioned on pain of death? If that is the case should TC (even though the mention was quoted from another source) be receiving a visit from Mr. Brooks soon?
