He gave a penalty away in his first appearance yet retained his place, very unusual stuff.

That was a row between Mo Diame and Lascelles.

Jesus will people give over about him not playing. I think it's the first time since I can remember that Newcastle have four decent centre backs to choose from.

Rafa will want to keep them all happy Lejuene was an 8m signing this summer, he was always going to be given his chance. Lascelles is club captain he didn't play for first few games of the season but he worked hard in training and won back his place. (Yes injuries to Lejuene and Mbemba played a part too).

As I already posted Rafa has come out and said as much that he has four decent options only two can play in the formation he uses and if someone works hard in training he will bring them in, just like Lascelles done and I'd imagine similar to how Lejuene did.

I'd 100% imagine when Clark and Mbemba were away on international duty Rafa worked a lot with both Lascelles and Lejuene and they look line they have a decent understanding of each others positioning.

If one of them gets injured or loses form then Clark is the one I'd say would come straight back in.

Thanks for relaying that information

Maybe all the gobsh*tes on here are right when they blame Dunphy on people stating Hoolahan should have been starting for the past 6 years..

Great clearance off the lane and follow up block to deny a certain goal.

However, he has just stopped a certain goal with a brilliant goalline clearance followed by a tackle in the follow up

Then gets his knee stood on. Doesn't look like anything too serious, if very uncomfortable.

He was unlucky in the sense that this goes on in literally every game of football and he was penalised

He does have a big tendency to pull on jerseys has been doing it for years, not sure who pointed it out before but it was only a matter of time before he gave a peno away for it
