Wat a job he has done at the Toon

Came in after a relegation and with all sorts of boardroom problems, got them promoted straight away with over 90 points, started this year well too with away wins at everton and chelsea so far......goes about his job quietly and doesn't get the credit he deserves in my opinion
Imagine the english press if Shearer had done this job with Newcastle - they'd probably be demanding the FA to give him the England job immediately!

hopefully a future Ireland manager!

Has done a great job in very difficult circumstances!

It took City 44 years to win the league and 10 months to lose it

Shearer along with Dowie really made a pigs ear of managing newcastle- Fair play to Hughton

So far, a shining example of what a good manager should be.  Hard working, determined, unassuming, level headed and hasn't gone referee-bashing, media bashing, or any bashing.  Just gets on with it and looks to be reaping the benefits.  Was exactly the same as a player too, great lad.  Should be our next Manager if he wants it and is available for it when if and when it is vacant again.   Good man Chris, delighted for him. In fairness he has players who were well able for the championship. Look at the wages he had down there, the centre half is supposed to be on 70-80 grand. Most of his players had played their whole careers in the premier league. He had the biggest stadium in the league by a mile. I am pleased to see him do well, but he's done no more then Roy keane did at Sunderland and he has a long way to go before being considered for the Ireland job in my opinion

Hughton is doing an excellent job. Nobody is saying he will be the next Ireland manager but maybe further down the line, if he keeps improving as a manager.

He has to be a serious candidate for the Irish job if he keeps Toon in the PL and safe from relegation worries.  He inherited a fookin mess after Fat Sam's disastrous tenure and Shearer's feeble attempt to keep them up.

Most definitely. He will be speculated about for the Irish job some time in the future, but right now his place is at club level, where he's excelling.
He's had a brilliant and long apprenticeship under so many managers now that he's reaping the benefits of learning the 'hard knock' way.

I hope it keeps going well for him at Newcastle, although it's a notoriously fickle place for a manager to be.

Ah he'd be a candidate alright. Just not sure if he'll be ready by the time Trap leaves. A stint with another club may allow him to develop that bit further or even an extra couple of years with Newcastle if he keeps them up, which hopefully he will.

i reckon he'd b a candidate, no reason why if Trap leaves in a year or two and Hughton took over he couldn't do a good job

Mick did a solid if unspectacular job at Millwall in his time there but still came into the Irish job and succeeded

True, but it's a very fickle business managing in the Premiership. He's doing a good job now but Newcastle could easily be relegation candidates by the time Christmas comes around! If he still has Newcastle in the Premiership come summer 2012 then yes i suppose he would've proven himself and would be suited to the job.
