option 1 - my reasoning, i dont think someone should be awarded the same points for odds on or near odds on favs (big bucks, hurricaner fly, sprinter sacre) etc as someone who picks a 9/2 winner which takes a lot more skills, we did it that way last year and was fine

anyway so its

option 1 - 2 votes

Option 2 because otherwise you'll have everyone on the final day picking 33/1 and 50/1 shots that are not in the lead and hoping for the best if option 1 is used

If option one is used this will happen

Some chap will have lets say 5 winners throughout the week at lets say for arguments sake 5/1 or 6/1

going into the last day with 25/30 points.  He has no Winners and finishes with 25/30 points

Someone now can will bag a 33/1 winner and end up winning the tipping competition over a week of cheltenham with 1 winnerConfused

Equally someone can tip four odds on favourites an get the same points as someone with four 4/1, 9/2 winners which require more skill, there'll be one or two long odds winners and fair f**ks to anyone who finds one

Option 2 is definitely the better way of doing it imo for the reasons outlined by Kerrzy and daboi.

Sorry lads, it just doesnt make sens,e why should an 11/2 winner be the same as 12's winner or a 4/7 winner the same as a 9/2 winner? fair enough if you want to cap over 16's or over 20's and peg it as 16 or 20 points but lower down it makes no sense

But with option 1 lads can just go for broke on the last day and completely pox it with a 33/1 shot.
Basically it's like a freezeout poker tournament as in you pay your flat entrance fee and that's all you stand to lose. Just look at the race and pick whatever horse you think will win regardless of the odds. If you think somebody who picks all the favourites is getting better value for his entrance fee than somebody who picks the odd outsider, well then there's nothing stopping you from doing that.
I can nearly guarantee you though that if one of us who enters this competition just picks all the shortest priced horses in the selected races, he won't win it!

Not all 4/7 shots win and not all hot pots at the festival this year will win. Theres nothing skillful about picking a 33/1 shot on the final day by sticking a pin in the paper and hoping for the best as will be the case and was the case last year.

It'll make for a better and more competitive competition with option 2 with those fighting it out at the top come the friday.

Nvidic if you pick all those winners your talking about you'll win either wayThumbs Up

Yeah nvidic, I can see where you're coming from all right. There is an argument for both options but imo option 2 is the better one.
I don't really mind though because no matter what the format is I'll win this out anyway. Cool

I can see where you're coming from with the capping the odds, but ya cant have an evens winner being rewarded the same as a 5/1
