Spurs were never going to beat Liverpool that night irrespective off the early penalty.

As it turned out, yes, but you can't say "never" (in the absence of that early bloody penalty).

Remember, they qualified from a Group comtaining Barcelona, Inter and PSV, then overcame Dortmund, M.City and Ajax in the knock-out stages - not many duds there, eh?
