Not really a celebrity, especially given he eschewed every trapping of it, but a very familiar name to all Formula One motor racing fans over the last 3 decades, FIA technical delegate, official race starter, F1 race director, mate of Bernie Eccelstone's - Charlie Whiting passed away in his sleep 3 days before the start of the 2019 F1 season on March 14th. 

Leaves a huge legacy of vastly improved safety in F1, and highly respected by past & current F1 drivers. RIP Charlie. 


Picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.....
