He had a sizeable part in Once upon a time in America, as well as being in Chinatown, Last exit to Brooklyn among many others. He was also in The gang who couldn't shoot straight, that film mainly regarded as De Niros first film of any substance.

Last Exit to Brooklyn is incredibly dark. I saw that in the cinema and when left at the end of it we had to go and have a few pints just to take our minds off the ending sequence in the car park. I'm always rewatching movies but I will never rewatch that. It's not that it's a bad film. It's just that it is unrelentingly grim.

Ueh, it was grim and a tad horrific. Think it was set in the Red Hook area of Brooklyn which apparently was only for the hard and stoic people. Red Hook was also the setting for On the Waterfront, although it was filmed across the river in Hoboken, NJ.

Quote In the film, his character navigated the world of thugs. He regularly whipped out popular one-liners like "It’s my duty to please that booty."
