This. Car insurance not compulsory in new Zealand. Would sort the cartel out fairly quickly...
What would that sort out? There's an inunsured drivers fund in Ireland that pays out on cases. That's funded by all of us that do pay insurance. If we'd more uninsured drivers then either that fund would balloon, bumping premiums, or would collapse the fund meaning people would go bankrupt or into massive debt for claims.

It would mean if you have an accident and it's your fault you pay for the damage you cause. Because it's compulsory and because its a cartel, they control the market and price fix. If it wasn't necessary theyd soon cop on.
Yeah but the uninsured drivers rarely pay the damage they cause, that gets loaded back onto the state and onto insurance premiums. Until we get scamsters like the 2 Army chancers in Galway this week dealt with properly there's still gonna be cases to be paid for

Up for renewal in May. Went shopping early last year and got a much better deal than the previous year.

Nothing really changes despite the outbreak does it?

Yeah once your circumstances change your premium can be recalculated.

Similar if you get penalty points you're supposed to contact them to get your premium recalculated.

You could always revise downwards the number of miles, quite substantially, allowed under the policy, seeing as she's almost certainly going to be driving less for the next number of weeks. That might well have an impact on the policy.

Car insurance came in today and they have increased it by 27e.

I wrote back to them explaining that I will not be renewing the policy etc...

Every single time this has happened, I have got better quotes elsewhere only for 123 to come back and match it.

Pathetic over 27e.

This.
The amount of traffic accidents and therefore claims must be hugely down in the last fortnight, and will continue to stay down for the next 2 months at least.
Yet everyone still has to pay the full premium.
So anyone with a renewal date coming up soon should see a stagnation/reduction.
Any increases cannot be justified.

When did they ever justify anything? They did try blame the compo culture (which to be fair, does still exist) until Pearse Doherty went and found out that claims paid out weren't actually increasing in recent years. I think he's still waiting for them to come back to him.

Much like the banks, an entire industry rotten to the core.

The initial quote was for about about 420 and got it for about 380e.

Apparently, the market price changes daily hence the updated price.

I lowered the cost of the car from 20k to 16k and saved 30c
