Just checking for an update on Kelleher. Cant find any whatsoever. He had been missing for 10 weeks now at least? It’s all a bit strange and no sign of the issue or his return?

He’s hardly got his feet up so high that a 3rd choice 17 year old keeper is getting on the bench ahead of him? An abdominal injury was the prognosis but f**k me he’s been out for an eternity with it now. No updates either?

Ah here. What class of speculation is this? Utterly baseless and pure rubbish. He played well for Liverpool when he got his run. He got injured. And now you're doing your best to drag some story out of his injury and bandy about some rubbish about him having fallen behind some 17 year old in the pecking order? Christ.

It would damage this forums' reputation

I haven’t dragged anything out. Just asked the question as we have had no updates in case anyone had seen one? The response was he got his contract feet up time?

I quite clearly stated the above was hardly the case when a 17yo keeper was on the bench as 3rd choice last night? How have you concluded I’m the one bandying about speculation?

Have to think Liverpool playing Europa next season would be a major positive for Kelleher. 6 group stage games likely to be ther for him once he stays. League Cup games and Allison’s tendency to be a touch injury prone and Kelleher could find himself playing at least 8-10 games before Christmas alone.

Key is he avoids any more stomach tears of course.

Coming 23 this year, ok in goalkeeping years quiet young but would be good for him to go on loan and get a run of games, will only help his cause for Ireland too.

After tonight they may get CL football but if they don’t it’s key they are in the Europa League would the prospect of up to 15 games for Liverpool really be worse then 30-35 games in the Championship let’s say? It really depends on the loan for me. A Premier League loan yes a 100%.

Since when do clubs loan out their number 2 keeper? Beeker is injured a lot so he will get games next season

He isn’t going anywhere. Adrian is being released at the end of the season. Why risk bringing in a journey man keeper when you already have a keeper who has proven himself and is familiar with the system.
I’d rather see him play 10 games a season with Liverpool and build a solid reputation than go down to the Championship. Martinez at Villa is a good example of a keeper who bided his time and reaped the benefits from being at Arsenal. 2/3 years as back up at Anfield will get him a transfer to a decent PL team with 1st team opportunities. A bad season at the likes of Derby will mean he”ll return as 3rd choice and will end up dropping down the leagues.

Martinez, while being a very good keeper and someone who should still be at Arsenal as the number 1, is not a great example to be using. Was at the club since 2012, had 6 loan moves and the highest number of appearances he made in one season was 18.

He has just managed to pass the 100 club appearances at the age of 28. The last thing we need is one of our better prospects sitting on the bench for a big club for the next 4 years.

The last few windows have shown how our team is effected by our players not starting for their clubs. Regardless of where our players are playing, they should be encouraged to play consistently.

This is spot on!

If you look at Randolph as an example, he's been irelands most consistent player for years and has always been a safe, dependable pair of hands. However it was clear since his move to the west ham bench he has lost that bit of sharpness.

I would say that we should play a championship player that is playing regularly for his club over a premier league player that spends as much time on the bench as he does on the field.

If Kelleher was 3rd choice, like Martinez was at the start
of his career, then there wouldn’t be any issue with shipping him off to a Championship club but obviously Liverpool already think he’s Premier League standard and doesn’t need to be tested at a lower level. Replacing an experienced keeper like Adrian is a testament to that.
Obviously from a national team perspective, you’d want him playing as much as possible but it’s not as if he’s sitting on his hole doing nothing at Liverpool. He’s currently training with better players and coaches than he would with a Championship club or at national level. Kenny should be picking him as 1st choice already based on his games this season. Kelleher has already shown he can come in and perform at the highest level without much game time.

If Liverpool are in the Europa League then it’s unassailable to suggest he should move for a Championship loan when he’s looking at 8-10 games before Xmas alone once staying fit as 2nd choice. I really do hope they are in it for Kellehers sake. Was disgusted that they couldn’t hold them to a draw actually.

Kelleher will certainly at the end of 22/23 season may go and sign for a decent club. However if 2nd choice and looking competent doing so at Liverpool for 2 years his CV will be pretty polished and he would attract a decent move further afield then England as well as PL clubs themselves.

I’d rather see him play 10 games a season with Liverpool and build a solid reputation than go down to the Championship.

If Alisson keeps making Karius like howlers every week, he might play more often than 10 games a season. Alisson has only kept 8 clean sheets all season, way down on his numbers in previous years, and he has trouble clearing the ball away.

You only have to look at De Gea, to see that even the world's best keepers can slide from automatic starter to bench warmer in very little time.
