Very good performance. Would hope he does start in both. The difference to some degree is that he is playing behind a decent defence. The games were he conceded 5/7 goals was surely largely down to what he had in front of him. If he does play in Denmark hopefully it will be with a decent team in front of him and not all packed with reserves.

The Liverpool defence did well overall tonight but again Kelleher still hadn't the benefit of their first back four tonight either.

Tonight was a huge psychological and confidence boost for him. It couldn't have went much better from an Irish perspective. Clap

Absolutely. If he can cement the second spot he will play a decent amount of football at a high level throughout a season.

If he gets the number 2 goalkeeper position, do you think it's a better option than going on loan?

Thats a tough one. Realistically he is never going to challenge for the number 1 spot while Alison is there. But then again be hard to turn that down. Good for him not great for us.

TBH. he's a good prospect for both club and country.. We certainly need a good keeper now, and one that's composed. Klopp may see advantages of sending him out on loan to sharpen him up. Allisson will be always No. 1. so a loan to a decent club will make him or break him imo.

He did very well, few saves you'd expect and cracking reaction save of huntelar.

Always better to be playing even if it's in the championship rather than warming the bench, so I'd say loan spell would be good for him.

He made the same mistake as the ajax keeper did for the goal, in the first half misjudged the flight of a cross and was caught in no man's land, thankfully he wasn't punished.

Jesus be great if he was a good keeper for us for the next 10+ years,.

I remember Huntelaar was this young kid playing against The EIRE in a 4-0 win over Stan.
Commentator says here comes on 37 year old Huntelaar. Took me a second to realise that game was over 14 yrs ago!

I’d definitely say the loan but by Klopps interview he essentially said Adrian has been great for us but tonight we needed Kellehers ability on the ball etc. Alisson is also running the risk of becoming horrendously injury prone for a goalkeeper seems to get a lot of niggly injuries and it’s not like Alisson is old so being a back up to him may see him get plenty game time far more then your average back up keeper.

Kenny did say he was due to get a loan move out to Holland this year so if they still want to loan him out then playing a few games and a big CL game for Liverpool like he did tonight on his CV would attract plenty interest alone if they want to fire him off abroad or wherever.

Big balls from klopp to play him in a big game. He really is top drawer.

To think that a manager with the experience and talent of Klopp would play a keeper who has just conceded a hat full of goals if he thought for a second that the keeper was the fault for all or many of those goals is laughable. Esp in a game they needed points in.

A keeper can concede 7 goals and if not be his fault if the defence is having a nightmare.

Eh Karius...

Kelleher did well tonight and yes a keeper may not be at fault for the 7 but I saw him in 2 games and he had a mare letting in 10 goals and performing poorly.

Hopefully he kicks on now.  I remember McShane lauded by everyone after his debut against the Czechs and we all thought we found a gem.

The other option klopp had was mignolet and he made loads of mistakes too.  Klopp was probably too loyal but he did act and got a class keeper in.

If kelleher was a shambles and anyway at fault for a number of the 10 goals there is no way he would have been playing  tonight.

In fairness I didn't think he was up to it but he put in a good performance tonight.   He has filled out since last January.  He was more commanding and made 3 good saves.  I hope he plays in the premier league.

Generally agree with this. He was outstanding tonight. Distribution was elite level stuff.

Great to see him keeping a clean sheet last night.

If he is now the second choice at Liverpool then I don't think he needs a loan this season. Liverpool are going to play around 55 games in this compacted season. With Alisson's recent injuries, Kelleher could end up playing 10 games. 10 games with Liverpool is much better than a loan to the championship after Christmas.

all that matters for Ireland is that he gets to play games in February and March

Fair play to him, he was really good last night. A few very good saves and excellent on the deck. Best I've seen him play. As someone posted earlier, he has filled out a bit over the past 12 months. He commanded his area well and look confident throughout
