I'm looking to buy a cheap-ish camera as a starting point to taking up photography as a hobby.

Does anyone have any advice on what to look out for when buying, ie what am I looking at when comparing cameras - sensor size/resolution, megapixels etc?

I haven't a clue on cameras but I will say have a look at the likes of Done Deal, Adverts and Facebook marketplace when you have more of an idea what you're looking for and try pick one up 2nd hand. You'll save a fortune and can then splash out if you decide after a while that it's something you enjoy

SoccerC would be your man if you are friends with him on facebook.  I know only a tiny bit but I think good telephoto lens, high resolution, wide angle lens, night mode etc...

On phones the Google Pixel is meant to be the best phone for photography.
