Thought COnnolly deserved a shot ahead of Folan.  Dont know much about him but Connolly has been on fore and shoudl have got the nod.  WElcome aboard Caleb but I can see Stan giving him a run out ahead of keane, doyle , stokes etc whereas COnnolly would defo have been pushing! another gaf by the gaffer I think!

maybe because he's not up to it, Connolly is a fine Championship player but isnt even up to premiership standard let alone international level!
He undoubtedly had the talent when he was younger but he's not up to it.

Not true, Doyle has taken his chance in the top flight with both hands and made the most of it. Connolly on the other hand has had more then a few chances and has never been a success in the premiership, he's just not good enough at the top level simple as that, he's had his chances and never took advantage.

and whose better, Andy Keogh off Wolves? He deserves a chance but cant see him like Folan even getting a run out against either SLovakia or Wales

thats all well and good but we do want to win matches yeah?
Even if Keogh comes in do you not think that for the immediate future (next 3 years) our top 4 strikers will be keane, doyle, long and stokes so if any of these are out or not on form , form players should be picked no matter who they are ie Connolly is most on for Irish Striker alongside Keane at the moment!

connolly should have defo got the nod ahead of Keogh.  Keogh will get his chance soon enough if Ireland lose any of the next 2 games as all games for the next 2 years will just be meaningless crap anyway if they dont qualify and all youngsters can be blooded then . FOrm players shouldnt be left out of squads. Remeber Sven picking walcott ahead of andy johnson, darren bent etc....great decision!

but by stan saying that this campaign is only a learning curve then he's right to be bringing keogh, connolly doesnt need to be learning any more (or maybe he does)

I dont agree, but he's already decided that this campaign is a learning curve, so if he's going with that attitude then he may as well make the most of it. ie bring keogh.

For the record i think the gaffer is a muppet, i just have to find the appropriate muppet. (it was so much easier with big mick/sam the eagle)
