In the 2010 qualifying competition, Scotland, currently ranked 14th in the world by FIFA, would be among the nine second seeds while both Northern Ireland (ranked 36th in the world) and the Republic of Ireland (32nd) would be among the third seeds. Wales, ranked 53rd, should be among the fourth seeds.

The competition will see the nine group winners qualify for the finals in South Africa automatically, with the eight best runners-up playing off for the four remaining European spots.

The draw for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers takes place in Durban, South Africa, November 25, and the Euro 2008 final draw on December 2.

The first time the Devil made me do it. The second time I did it on my own.

am i right in thinkin that our seeding for the world cup will be affected by where we finish in this group - meaning if we do end up finishing 4th or even 5th, we could be 4th seeds for the draw?

at the moment it's looking very much so.

if you look at the table giving Slovakia the 6 pts against San Marino then we are in 4th place at the moment with slovakia on 16 pts.

they also have to play the czech's, you'd imagine Czech's would win that game. That means we only need 2 pts from the last 3 games.

to finish behind slovakia would really top off an utter shamles of a campaign. the slovakians were, and still are, muck, absolute muck. to think we only drew with them and the welsh beat them 5-2 four days later is embarrassing. i mean not even their own fans have any faith in them anymore with only about 6000 comin out to support them. things are really bad when we're battling with the likes of these poor footballing nations for THIRD place with still three games remaining in the group Cry

Don't forget Wales either!!!

If they win their next two games against Cyprus and San Marino we could find ourselves fighting in the millennium not to finish in 5th spot!!!

Don't forget about the embarrassing performance we gave in San Marino.... I still don't know where the 5 extra minutes at the end of match came from... I am guessing we paid a lot for that victory.  FFS lads that was a joke and Stan should have been given the sack right then and there.
