I know yeah but he should be. Starting regularly in the Prem at CB and holding his own at that - doesn't make much sense.

And I genuinely thought Wilson was right footed - he's certainly seems comfortable off either anyway.

Correct me if I'm wrong but has he ever played there?

Heavily reliant on Meyler here.

I can't recall a time either to be fair, but he's a right footer who can play LB so surely he is capable of making the switch across?

I'd be in agreement with Dunne23 here - a back four of:

Wilson - O'Shea - Delaney - Ward

Is the best we can put out I reckon. The main issue is that O'Neill doesn't seem to rate Delaney at all unfortunately.
Wilson is left footed. Very good with both but predominantly left

He's 100% right footed and he's 100% played RB for Stoke. Would have more faith in him there than Meyler who's only experience in that position seems to have been against Oman and Portugal (for a few minutes). But it's still not ideal obviously

You'd have thought Doherty and Chambers would definitely be ahead of him, even McShane, Stearman, Foley etc. would have been more obvious choices.
We're decent enough..

Good to see there is some new blood out there.

Would be amazed if this lad makes the starting XI for the next two games although I remember a young Steve Staunton who had gone across from Dundalk to Liverpool being thrown into an Irish XI away to Spain for a WC 1990 qualifying game,Kevin Moran played midfield that night and we lost 2-0(I seem to remember had a glut of injuries).

MON seems to have a belief if you are good enough you are old enough - McLean at Sunderland an example.

Don't think Foley would be interested after the way Trap treated him.

Foley isn't very good anyway.

Strange how Delaney isn't in tbh.

Most definitely right footed, But he is so good with his left peg that you'd barely notice much difference.
He can certainly play RB without any doubt.

Anyway, back to Lenihan. Great experience for the lad. Hopefully he progresses on from here. MON/Keano showing courage in choosing an untried youngster.
Remember how we were all crying for Trap to play Coleman and it only happened eventually?

Good luck to the boy. It'll be a good experience for him. Strange that Wolves-regular Matt Doherty didn't get a call-up however. Wolves are having a decent season.

It'll be good to see the harsh realities of football I guess. Blackpool are woeful at the moment - could be on the end of a few 0-4 drubbings in the month.

BEst of luck to him.

So if he was still at Cork he would be in the squad?

He played when Cork City got beaten 4-0 in Dundalk a few months ago. Harsh enough reality I would say.
