Tony, in fairness Neuer also made a couple of smart saves at the start of the second half.

the locals here want Argentina -- would be horrified if they lost to Holland Big smile

Thiago Silva with the Neymar cap, equally so.
These guys were here to play a World Cup semi final and prove they are not a one man team.
Instead they turned in into a Neymar wake and let emotions take over.

Five minutes after his embarrassing outpouring of emotion, Luiz let his man loose and they were one down. He was in the middle of the park for another goal when he should have been in the thick of it in the box. It was unbelievable stuff.
Then, in the second half, he has the ball, forgets about the game and turns on Muller, attempting to blast the ball at him.
It was how an U12 would react.

This same spoofer has been like a cartoon character for the whole World Cup.

His condescending show when he urged the crowd to applaud James Rodrigues was another chapter in his World Cup Sideshow Bob scrapbook. But he looked like the good guy and got plenty of praise on twitter so job done for him.
And he dropped to his kneews straight after last night's humiliation and pointed to God. Maybe he thought this might make him immune from the criticism that surely should have followed from the Brazil fans.
You would swear Neymar's career was over or worse still, he died.
His tears and messages to the fans was laughable.

Brazil made last night's match about Neymar when it should have been about Brazil.
I'm delighted they were found out

Sums up this contrived Brazil side to a tee. They were a crowd of bullsh#t artists and didn't seem at all focused on their on field jobs. David Luiz being the perfect example of this, he was an absolute disgrace last night. Anybody trying to defend Luiz here, I urge you to watch back over the game. The actual lack of effort this lad put in, in a world cup semi, while captaining his country at home, was bewildering to say the least.

On the money GerK Clap

Just to edit : I've mentioned this in other posts. The part in bold was a horrid act of 'look at me' on Luizs part. Not sure how anybody can warm to this lad.

"I called him an embarrassment to FIFA and to himself," .... He said 'No-one speaks to me like that'.... and I said, "well I do' and that was that."

Pato was a sub at Corinthians. Now he plays for Sao Paulo where he gets booed by his own fans for being poor.

He's so good they didn't want him to sign for them.

His stats dont suggest that
Would he not be getting booed as hes on loan from the city rivals?

Anyway, looks as if hes off to Inter

And is most certainly a far better option than any of the 3 "forwards" he was replaced with

Coutinho and Lucas too.

Lucas could have done a job as a holding midfielder last night - they badly needed it.

Coutinho is a lot better than Fred and Bernard and others too.

Both worth a squad place at least.

A lot of people read too much into last years Confederations Cup, the bookies included, having that Brazilian side as favourites throughout

Moleman, you hit the nail on the head with the use of the word contrived in regards to Luiz. I think he is not the worst player, he has good technique and is quite athletic. He is just mentally unstable, that's all.

Which is why the Germans refused their invitation.

And the conditions were over-hyped i think beforehand too.
Have they had that much of a negative effect on one team compared to their opponents?

More to do with the fact he doesn't appear to care much about football. He was so disappointing at Corinthians that it led to supporters invading their training ground complaining about him and Emerson.

He had great potential. Injuries ruined him. Was definitely not a good option for the World Cup.

Before the World Cup it was logical to pick Fred and Jo. Widely seen as the top number 9s from Brazil. Playing with a false 9(Robinho) was the most likely alternative to them. Scolari tried it in friendlies but decided against it.

Yes most definitely.
As I said numerous times the World has changed since the 60s/70s and that European teams would not suffer.

Personally speaking, if I was balling after a quarter final defeat, the last thing I would want is to be made centre stage with the whole place looking at you.

An arm around the shoulder and a well done would have been far more suitable.
Instead, Luiz wanted to be seen as some sort of cult hero. I cringed

+1

Completely different situation.

1930: European teams arrived by boat.
2014: Belgium filled their own lake with their own fish so that players could go fishing...
