Remember his 2 cracking goals in 4-2 win over Italy 10 years ago.

There was some American wonderkid, can't recall his name. I think he played in Germany for a while.
It was far across the sea,
When the devil got a hold of me,
He wouldn't set me free,
So he kept me soul for ransom.

Not to turn this into an Irish topic but looked the team up from that day - very surprised to see some of those names..
Aaron McCarey, Matthew Doherty, Aidan White (C), John Egan, Derrick Williams, Conor Henderson, Anthony Forde, Samir Carruthers, Aaron Doran, Sean Murray, Eunan O'Kane.

John Bostock was one I seem to remember - think HB is referring to Adu. Toton Zolo Moukoko might be the greatest FM wonderkid of all time

I read this the other day, can't say I recall his name at the time he was signed. It makes you wonder if he had stayed in Sweden until he was 21 how different would his football career have been.

We had an incredible u21s squad that year and should have done much better than we did without that spoofer King in charge. As per above we had Doherty, Egan, Willams and O'Kane go onto to win senior caps that played in the Italy win but we also had Duffy, Brady, Hendrick, Hourihane, Cunningham, Collins and Stevens that also featuring campaign that went onto win senior caps.

I suspect Adrian Doherty’s name has been mentioned on other threads like this. A career devastated by injury.

Yeah has been a main stay in a decent Real Sociedad team for the last 5 years a key player in there first major trophy in 30 odd years, also has a 3rd place medal from the 2018 WC.

I love how this thread has turned into a Championship Manager/FM Wonderkid list of yesteryear LOL

That would be Freddie Adu. Was a nightclub manager back in the US in the last article I saw on him.
