Could it be a test case to highlight the stupidity of

Not a hope. He made an original complaint in 2009 and then followed it up last year with a letter to the Commissioner no less when he had heard anything.

The same man has now launched a blasphemy complaint against Faithless for their song "God is a DJ".
Personally I think God was a paedophile, certainly if the actions of many of his "representatives on earth" are anything to go by. |

It's hard to know what's worse, that some desperately sad individual wants to waste resources on such a frivolous complaint, or the fact that as recently as 2009, our state was still pandering to the influence of the catholic church by putting this blasphemy law (we are the only country in the entire world to introduce one this century, which might indicate the mindset here) into an official legal document.

The Blasphemy Law was just following the constitution. Amazing the way Enda could pick out of his arse this ridiculous referendum for overseas Irish people to vote on Presidential elections and not this ridiculous Blasphemy clause in the constitution. The introduction of the law also followed the furore and death threats for publishing the picture of Mohammed in Denmark. This was before the phrase "Islamophobia" was invented and the media believed in criticism of ALL religions, not just turning a blind eye to a specific one. Amazing how times have changed in the last few years. |

No Mr Irwin. Unlike our socialist friends, I believe in free speech, small government and private enterprise. |

Vladimir Putin's cock holster doesn't believe in free speech yet you support him - I guess you don't practise what you preach.

As far as I know, it was the FF/Green party (With regard to the Greens, may they all choke & die on diesel NOX emissions) who rubberstamped this ridiculous act/law. Not quite sure whose view has changed, the (large) conservative element of FF would probably still hold much the same view, the identical (large) conservative element of FG likewise, which is why they didn't oppose it too strenuously at the time, Labour possibly would have disagreed just to make a stand on something that wasn't really important, SF would have disagreed on their much valued principle of disagreeing with everything, the unlamented Greens probably only agreed on the basis one of them got a junior minesterial position & the pension & Merc that go with it. Nothing to do with Islam, if Sharia Law was predominant tomorrow, our crowd would still be taking their cue from a handful of RC fundamentalists, lest they lose a handful of votes in one of the (for example) Kerry constituencies, where the locals might just elect a Burqa wearing fundamentalist instead of a flat cap wearing one. |
