Chisinau was right dive but a great trip.

We'd non-stop Wolfe Tones tunes being played in that British York bar with the big union jack and picture of the Queen looking at you when you came in. Could just imagine some diplomat from the British embassy coming in for a quiet evening drink and walking into it with Come Out Ye Black and Tans being belted out LOL
Wings? They're only the band The Beatles could have been.

Chisinau and Gelsenkirchen for me.

Don't get the Glasgow hating, great spot, not much in terms of sightseeing; but great for a drink and the people are great craic (although some of the scotland fans that night were pricks!).

It's probably come on a bit since then. Hope we draw them in a qualifying group sometime.

It's a majority Muslim country but I'd imagine it's fairly westernized like Turkey/Azerbaijan. I'm only guessing mind.
Wasn’t even born in 93 never mind being there but I visited Tirana over the summer and it’s become somewhat westernised but not overly at the same time. Had a great time there cheap enough overall. On keeping with this thread not a fan of Paris. Not of the locals unfriendly and very overpriced.

Not sure what people were expecting from Glasgow, it's basically 1 street full of bars and pubs on Sauchiehall St, the f**k were people expecting, the loch ness monster? LOL

Cardiff was grand and a really lovely spot at the time we played em in that friendly, but the recent trip showed how much that place has deteriorated under austerity, wouldn't call it a kip, seen better days is best described.

The people who are saying Glasgow, Cardiff, Gelsenkirchen, were any of you in Chisinau and if so, what makes it less of a sh*thole than those places?

Gelsenkirchen only there for about 2 hours + Match time so didn't really see much of the overall place but just came across as one massive industrial site.

I liked Chisinau- Yes it looked cheap but that I think added to the charm.

I think it's a case of Moldova in comparison to the other countries, Glasgow and Cardiff being part of the UK and Gelsenkirchen being in Germany which you would consider most places to be of a certain standard.

As I mention in my post I liked Chisinau for its simplicity

Looked cheap? The entire infrastructure of the place was literally crumbling! I'd agree that it sort of did add to the charm of the place though LOL

Spot on with the description of Gelsentkirchen.

I had a great time in Chisinau and it's a fair point you make as to expecting more in the UK and Germany but just taking them all on their individual merits, I don't know how anyone can say Chisinau is less of a sh*thole than any of those places. Like if you were told you had to live in one of those 4 cities, I'd be very confident the vast majority would have Chisinau at the bottom of the list.

Don't get the hate for Cardiff. It's not amazing or anything but I thought it was grand.

+1

Haven't been to Chisnau but found Glasgow fairly grim alright.

And a lot of the pricks were Celtic fans which surprised me

Sofia was good craic but was a bit of a kip as soon as you left the main strip. f**k all lights, pavements in bits.
I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.
