Any fans of the band Big Country on here?

I'm off to see the in two weeks live in Sunderland. I know its not the original line up but should be a cracking night.

They have just added a further dates at Dublin Academy on 27/04/16 and at Belfast Limelight1 28/04/16.

Yep,I like them a lot.Have a few of their albums,mainly compilations.
Fave songs would be:
Restless Natives
Steeltown
The Storm
Wonderland
Highland Scenery
Look Away

They're just not the same without Stuart(RIP),and now Tony has since left. But I do have the live CD/DVD from a few years back, and Mike Peters and co. were brilliant, great gig.
Have you seen the fìlm "Restless Natives"?What do you think of the soundtrack?

Saw them in the Phoenix Park Racecourse in 1983 (same day Eamon Coghlan won in Helsinki) along with U2, Simple Minds, Eurythmics etc.

Annie Lennox got hit by a bottle I think.

How could you forget Steel Pulse ?
Got into that for a quid - knew one of the security blokes who let a load of us in for a squid.

Seen Big Country in the RDS back in the day. Black and White check shirts were the obligatory dress.

I think an early version of The Fountainhead were on first, as well.

Had forgotten about the bottle thrown at Annie Lennox. Don't think it hit her, but she stopped the song and went mad, not surprisingly. "What arsehole threw that? Did you come here today to be an arsehole???"....

Some line-up!! Think it was only about fifteen punts to get in........

Seen Big Country play live five times some great nights including being the main support at Roker Park for David Bowie.

They blew him off stage.

Remember this ad?

Didn't the band themselves write and perform the alternative lyrics especially for that ad?

That's right-and I don't think BC were too happy about it because they weren't asked for permission, and because they didn't want that song associated with anything political.

I bought the album "The Seer" 2-disc deluxe special edition only the other day.
Loads of extra tracks-including Highland Scenery,Margo's Theme,Restless Natives, remixes of One Great Thing and The Teacher, and the soundtrack to Restless Natives the movie.
€12.99 in HMV.

Great listening,I'd definitely recommend it.
