Top 3 should have been Messi, Lewandowski and Mbappe.
Mane ahead of VVD too.

Everyone knows Joel Matip should have won it
Can you see Ronaldo getting another one? I suppose if Juve win the CL he will be favourite to. |

Not really sure what much more a defender can do if VVD didn't warrant it for this year. Even this season when the Liverpool defence has been collectively shaky at times he's been the one constant really.

No mention of his World Cup performances? Ahhhh the usual "farmer league" narrative when talking about Ligue 1 Look at the state of some of the teams in the English Premier League.

He's hardly going to win the 2019 Ballon D'or for his performances in the 2018 summer world cup Yes, you have to take the quality of the league into it. He would have to be getting to the final of the CL to be in with a chance of winning it due to that. |

Or maybe it should just go to the best player for the year? That would make more sense.

Agree, and that's why Messi won it.
Mbappe was nowhere near the best player for the year. And why would he get it for a world cup 18 months ago? I think Geoff Hurst should have won it, he was good in 66 |

Messi, Van Dijk, Mane - would have been my top 3
Bernardo Silva should have been higher up, he was one of his club and countrys best players and won 4 trophies, including the Nations League. |

He was good in the final, not so much the rest of the WC. Lewandowski scored over 50 goals for club and Country in 2019 and he finished 8th, doesn't play in the Premier League so 8th is about right.

Lewandowski not being in top 3 at least is shocking... 51 goals in 54 games and 10 goals for his country this year too, scandalous to finish 8th.

VVD, Mane, Salah and Allison all ahead of Lewandowski Those suggesting Van Dijk deserves the Ballon D’or clearly only watch the English Premier League and Champions League. Far more deserving winners and thankfully Messi won it, and tbh he should have won it last year too.

It usually goes on the Champions League Two EPL teams in the final and Liverpool won it, they were always going to get plenty of players in the top 10 therefore
If only they used "Brendan's top 6 Clubs in Europe rankings". Then plenty of PSG and Bayern players would have made it i'm sure
