I hadn't realised that the Iranian side Tractor Sazi that Stokes has signed for is managed by John Toshack.
 
The two year contact that AS has signed is highly lucrative.

They signed Rangers' Harry Forrester as well today; I'd imagine both of them will last about 6 months.

Have to say, Iran was probably the last place I'd have expected Stokes to end up in. 

He's still only 30 years old. Thought he was a couple of years older than that. 

Decent scoring record for Celtic too. Has a long way to go before he'd have a chance of getting into an Irish squad.

Worth a follow on Instagram IMO - I think it's fascinating to see an(other) Irish footballer plying his trade in Iran. The local fans seem to love him anyway! Fair play to him - hope he's enjoying his Azeri adventure
