Great stuff....now play him.

A loss for the 21's, but Gilsenan will likely take his spot in the team.
Just leaves them a little light of they lose anyone else to injury or suspension.

The tweet from the FAI suggests that it's due to other players waiting on scan results, so possibly he might drop back down if they all come up clear?

That said, I'd say any player with a hint of a knock will be pulling out of this squad so he'll probably stay with the seniors.

Would have gone with Azaz personally and left Moran where he is. But you can usually count on Kenny to make the wrong call in fairness, so no major surprise.

Pointless imo with no competitive game on the horizon until September 2024 and 4 friendlies likely in March/June 2024.

While I understand those who say the Seniors should take precedence, I cant think of two more meaningless senior games, while victory in the 2 U21 games would go a long way towards achieving qualification.

The simple question is - is Irish football better served by Moran getting a cap vs New Zealand or by giving our U21 team the best possible chance of a first ever qualification at that age group? It's a no brainer for me. Azaz should be called up to the seniors and Moran should be left where he is until March.

At this stage you would have to wonder if Azaz has any interest in playing for us, he so obviously should be getting called up and is the exact type of player you thought kenny would be in to.

Kenny has been very hit and miss with the non Irish born players. Azaz and McGuinness should both have been in by now. But then he's gone chasing after the likes of Johnston and Jack McGlynn. I'd say it's as simple as he just  hasn't called Azaz up.

About time.  Who pulled out?

Don't understand why he wasn't in the full squad from the start.

Kenny doesn't seem overly keen on English born dual nationals he doesn't rush to get them involved. Not always a bad thing but when they are an obvious improvement to the sqaud like Azaz would be its annoying.

Would rather Moran stay with the u21s successful games for them does irish football a lot more good than a friendly and pointless qualifier that is Kenny's swansong.

If he didn't get injured last season think we might have seen him called up last November for the friendlies.

While he's not an out and out winger he'd do a similar job as Johnston out wide whose played a grand total of 25mins this season for Celtic. Doesn't even make match day squads in the league.

If they don't finish third in their CL group hopefully he gets a loan as he won't be needed to make up the numbers as a homegrown player.

Azaz is categorically not a wide player and would not do a similar job to Johnston out wide. He is very much a central attacking midfielder!

Id say get him in the seniors, good for the experience and if his progression continues he will be ready to hit the ground running at the start of the next campaign. U21s is schoolboy stuff compared to full internationals.
