Topic: An Irish manager? Posted: 20 Dec 2007 at 10:45pm |
Just heard Paul Ince ranting and raving that an Englishman did not get the England job and he wonldn't be part of the current set up if he was asked. Which leads me to the point. Is anyone concerned that there are no Irishmen left in the running for the Irish job? If circumstances permitted I would love to see Roy Keane get the job or even Martin O'Neill. But are there any others the FAI have overlooked?

I'm glad I missed that d*ckhead Ince. While I understand his point, at present the answer to whether there's a decent "native" manager available out there is no, either here or in England. Look at the top clubs, managers are Scottish, French, Isreali (Portuguese before that) and Spanish. Further down the League you have Scot (Everton), Swede (City) who failed with England, Spaniard (Spurs, Dutch before that). O'Neill had a superb record at Celtic, but he never got them to the knockout stages of the CL (Strachan has now done it twice while remembering the Artmedia Bratislava debacle in 2005), so I reckon this is a huge season for O'Neill now with the Villa. But if we had to have an Irishman managing us, O'Neill would definitely be my choice. Far too early for Keane yet (but if he says "I've only been a Manager 2 minutes" once more, I'll fckn scream).
I never understood the hype over Allardyce for England and Stuart Pearce and Curbishley were also in the frame as well, none of these do it for me.
So Ince's argument is a no-no for me.

Anyone see Ian Wright on Soccer AM? The man is an overgrown man-child innit?
|
The sequence now is, should he miss this, and Ireland's next penalty is scored, then the match and the progress are Ireland's....Timofte against Bonner..

RTE played a clip of Lovejoy/Redknapp's DVD with Redknapp saying that he conisders it a volley when the ball bounces up off the ground and you hit it while it's still in the air. What a knobjockey he is. As Lovejoy says, that means every shot in tennis is a volley.
