He's spent almost all the last 12 months out injured and he's barely back playing but needs to leave for the sake of his career? The most important thing for Idah is minutes, whether that's PL2 or off the bench.

I would have advised him to leave (on loan) Norwich 2 years ago if he didn't start the 20/21 season as a starter.

He didn't. He started 1 of 7 Championship games before being sent off and then missing most of the season with a knee injury.

Idah is 22 next month. He needs to leave Norwich soon or his career will stagnate.

The injuries and lack of starts have really hampered his development.

Are you saying Kamara is now ahead of him because hes scored goals in PL2? His lack of starts have been from the injuries..no? Dont think he needs to leave at all - if he stays injury free the starts will follow.

No. But he'll be in the mix. He's been prolific at PL2 level for 2 years now. Debut soon.

He's never really been a 1st choice player when fit. Pukki has been their talisman for years, and now Sargent has stepped up this season.

Idah has started 15 of his 64 games for Norwich. 7 PL starts and 3 Championship starts.

PL2 goals generally don't transfer to first team football - he will go on loan first. Pukki is nearly 33 - Idah will get plenty of chances once he stays fit.

Idah got his chance because of a similar run of form that Kamara is showing now. Idah never went on loan.

33 isn't really that old in modern football. Especially for players who don't rely on speed.

He needs regular games. Even if it's League One level.

Lad is made of glass. He may well end up a journeyman in the longer term but we all have our calling in life. Deffo whiff of Keith O'Neill off him, great potential but could easily be retired before 30 if the injuries take their toll.

Off the back of 0 premier league starts and about a dozen appearances off the bench, displacing Pukki, who only got 26 goals in the championship that year?

Yes & No.

Yes, he's had a few long term injuries.

No, there's been long stretches where Idah was fully fit & available but glued to the bench anyway. That's down to the fact that Pukki is miles better (10 goals, 8 assists this season) & is never going to be benched in favour of developing Idah.

Sargent has emerged this past year, too. He's got 10 goals & 2 assists this season, & he isn't going to be benched for Idah either.

Best case scenario here - Norwich give that young lad Kamara Idah's spot on the bench/junk minutes, and let Idah go on loan. (Cardiff, Rotherham, Stoke would all take him. Mick would probably take him at Blackpool too).

Pukki is out of contract in the summer. He might stay if they get promoted (bad for Idah). But he'll leave if they don't get promoted.

Idah going on loan now, getting 15+ starts (in his natural position) under his belt would put him in a much better position to fight to be Norwich's starting striker next season (Sargent being solid competition for that position).
And would get him in shape for Ireland too, don't forget. We have a lot more competition now then when Idah first got in the squad. Sitting on his arse/getting junk minutes for the rest of the season won't do him any good at all.

Idah won't be going anywhere. Norwich be insane to let a player of his calibre go during a promotion push. He'll get his chance.

There were quite a lot of first team squad players in that team. Gibbs and Nunez have started a lot of games. Sorensen, Slinani and McCallum have been well involved too. A little context here would be nice. They don't play until 4 February next. More context. They are getting games into legs clearly.

Norwich are signing Arsenal forward Marquinhos on loan, more competition for Idah.
We're decent enough..

Suggests Norwich aren't overly concerned about any long term injury issues anyway.

That has to be positive news. Clearly they like him at Norwich. Plus i assume if Wagner came in and didn't rate him he would have had a say? He would prob have at least sent him out on loan. Its up to Adam now to take his chances when he gets them.

Pukki has been great for Norwich but they need to move on from him. He is 32 now.
