In fairness, RTE news did just say that. He must have won young international player of the year.

I had to google the under 21 one as I didn't watch the awards.

Yeah he won young player of the year, was on their website, but they had nothing about U21.

I wouldn't blame him, is all. Your post was up about the same time as the RTE news item on the 9 o'clock news. They clearly said Robbie Brady won under 21 player of the year. Obviously that's wrong but I can understand why someone might repeat it.

In fairness Connor Ronan was up for the U17 mens so that wouldn't have helped!

Despite the travails of our LOI side it's great to see the production line that is the local schoolboy set up continuing it's great work producing the international under 15 & 16 players of the year .
One a current Villa player & the other ex Villa & now Brighton

We're a sad little association aren't we? Very few people probably want to be there, bar the suits and their wags for the spot on the box and gargle. Keogh and Coleman plucked the short straws for the presentations.

Maybe the lesser known internationals conisder it a big occasion but surely a reception behind the cameras is better?

Total embarrassment mate. One of the cringey-ist things I've ever seen, to say the least. Sure have them boys couldn't give a fu*k about these banter awards

I'm trying to picture that scene, and indeed, the next one.

'' You ring him there Seamus''

'' No, you can fcukin ring him, I rang Jan Tomaszewski last year'' (Yes, I looked that up)

'' Ya but I rang Dejan Stankovic the year before, took me ages to get through to him & everything, it's your turn'' (looked that up as well, Jaysus there are some bizarre names on this list)

So Vialli is in Milan, minding his own business, maybe messing about with drawing some lines on a screen for Sky Italia , and someone says

'' Luca, there's a call for you here, a fella from the FAI''

''Who ?''

'' The Football Association of Ireland''

What in the name of hell would be going through his head at that point ?

Is he thinking that maybe MON has got sacked & the Irish liked the last Italian manager (for a while anyway) so maybe he is going to lead them to the Euros ??

'' Oh right, MON not sacked, and you want to give me an award''

''What's the catch ? ''

The more you think about it , the more bizarre it gets. Fair play to the fella, he made it sound like he appreciated it, he seems like a decent chap, but there are so many ''Why's '' in this whole process you just wouldn't know where to begin with it.

Vialli very strange alright. Don't we usually give it to someone who we are going to be playing.

Stankovic was given it when we played Serbia, Nedved when we played Czech Republic.

If awards was a week later really think someone like Chapuisat would have gotten it

We are playing Italy at the Euros Lb ffs.

But that's besides the point and agree with the whole, do it behind the scenes suggestion.
