A 25-year-old professional footballer has been arrested after a crash on the M6 in which two children died this morning, Sky News sources say.

The children, aged eight and 10, were killed after the smash shortly before 5.45am.

The man arrested was driving a Range Rover and was not hurt in the crash.

He is being held on suspicious of causing death by dangerous driving.

I wonder who it is. It was on the M6 so there could be a chance the player in question could be from Manchester or Liverpool.

Eamonn Dunphy:"I'll tell you who wrote it, Rod Liddle, he's the guy who ran away and left his wife for a young one".

McCormick has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and also faces drink driving and having no insurance charges.
The father of the kids is still seriously ill in hospital with neck and back injuries. Terrible situation, waste of so many lives.
