Read something today about us apparently playing the socceroos in Sydney before the WC. Be a nice holiday.

Think it's just 2.

They usually throw the extra one in there. So I'd say we'd have someone like Panama in March then Belgium and someone else as a bonus in June

Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just the two in Dublin and one in craven cottage or somewhere else

Would love a match at the Cottage. Few cans in Bishop's Park before and after. Living the dream.

Suggested it would be a double header. So presuming a game in Sydney and a game in Melbourne
Eamonn Dunphy:"I'll tell you who wrote it, Rod Liddle, he's the guy who ran away and left his wife for a young one".

There will definitely be two home friendlies. They are on the season ticket.

And it being a World Cup year, I'd say someone would fancy playing us last minute at the end of May, or the start of June.

Could see the logic in that for those teams but they aren't going to put too many bums on seats in Lansdowne road.
Doesn't seem to stop the FAI from organising friendlies against Oman. Dead

The difference is that whereas normally the FAI would pay a match fee to another national FA for them to come to Lansdowne and play a friendly, Oman actually paid the FAI for such a game.  It's a grubby arrangement which in these finanacially straitened times, will occur more often in the future, I fear.

This is also why we're not likely to see the Brazils and Argentinas of the world come to Dublin for a friendly; as a top drawer side, they charge high match fees.  The only way this will happen is if the FAI sell tickets for such a game only as a double package along with a friendly against, yes, Oman.

Could see Belgium being lined up as one of the "glamour" home friendlies! Would suit them more than us due to their World Cup group

They would hardly travel to Ireland for it. We'd be in Belgium for that. We're just the cannon fodder this time lads, they're in the driving seat.

Would be great to play them there though.

Would anyone want to play us as a World Cup warm up? Our style is quite unique!

Why would anyone warm up for a football world cup by playing a team that doesn't play football?!

If the money is right anything is possible we did go over last year for 1 game just over a week before a big world cup qualifier... but seeing as that game was against Mexico I'd be surprised if we lined up to play them again

Looks like we're playing Turkey away in March according to RTE.

In Antalya too, new stadium is right beside the resorts.

I'd be amazed if more than 100 people traveled over for this.
