Brought 1500 to Richmond first time, most ok but a few obnoxious coonts thrown in. Second time it was about 700.

Wouldn't fancy being a Garda in and around Oriel Park that night.......

There was a lot of trouble the last time they were in the Showgrounds too. It was in the middle of the troubles and they were rioting probably every other day, so they did the same down here.

A lot of the old generation Rovers fan probably wouldnt like to see them back in the Showgrounds. My father told me a story of how they were spitting in Nun's faces on the Churchill Road after the game.

Was it Drogs or Derry that played Linfield in Windsor about 3 years ago and got a 1 all draw? Dont remember there being any trouble. The shed will be rocking for this one, would love to be back for it.

Weve all heard the horror storys about linfeild playin R.O.I clubs im sure this time wont be any diffrent

although addmitedly the trouble the last time we played them wasent helped by an older athlone fan robbing a union jack and dancing across the roof of the stand that the scum were in holding a union jack alight

that didnt go down to well so shoco wouldnt reccomend that

oh and bin all there unin jacks like pats did and keep tricolours away from the coonts

I can see all the filth in dundalk turning up for this one!

For the record, we’ve played linfield a few times and always found them spot on. Have drank with linfield supporters before every match (got a bit boring with ‘organised’ sessions which im sure dundalk supporters will be invited to when they go up – but the first time we went up, it was a last minute job and we’d great craic up there with them in a Glasgow rangers bar on the mid shankill road! Got a bit boring after that though tbh).

When in Drogheda, Linfield supporters treated the club, the town, the supporters and the local pubs with respect (unlike cliftonville when they came down).

Was different years ago when we played them though, but times have changed!

"Not surprised you are anti foreigner in your so called Kip of a town when you don’t want a manager because he is Swedish and you want big Sam in charge" - a fine post from a fine ybig poster

Well tell him the FAI have moved out to Abbottstown, otherwise there might be a repeat performance in Merrion Square. Tongue

The First Round fixtures for the Setanta Sports Cup have been confirmed by the competition’s organising committee.

Dundalk’s visit to Linfield on Monday, February 14, for their first leg clash will promise a Valentine’s night to remember for Irish football. Sporting Fingal will meet Lisburn Distillery in the other tie that evening.

Reigning Champions Bohemians will face Portadown in their opening fixture at Dalymount Park a week later while St Patrick’s Athletic will travel to Cliftonville.

“I’m looking forward to the competition starting again,” said Milo Corcoran, Setanta Sports Cup chairman.

“With the changes to the format and the extension of the tournament to six clubs from each jurisdiction, it promises to produce some very exciting games.

“There’ll be a lot of interest in the visit of Dundalk to Linfield on opening night. It’s a tie that should whet the appetite of all football fans from north and south of the island.”

Monday, February 14 – First Leg

Linfield v Dundalk; Sporting Fingal v Lisburn Distillery

Monday, February 21 – First Leg

Bohemians v Portadown; Cliftonville v St. Patrick’s Athletic

Monday, February 28 – Second Leg

Dundalk v Linfield; Lisburn Distillery v Sporting Fingal

Tuesday, March 1 – Second Leg

Portadown v Bohemians; St. Patrick’s Athletic v Cliftonville

All matches kick-off at 7.45 pm. Kick-off time may change in the event of a fixture being televised live.

Might head up Shamrock Park for the bohs away leg - Any trouble expected at that match or would it be considered low risk.

He wouldn't set me free,
So he kept me soul for ransom.
