Have seen Rovers been knocked out at semi final stages before in cups but different this time. No bothered oddly, would have loved to have won it but it wasnt to be. We made a few nice quid out of it so move on from here. Best of luck to both teams in the final, whoever wins the setanta cup this season might get to keep it, cant see it going ahead next season. Pity really.

Is that definate ?

dont think its been confirmed yet but would expect it to be there

both 2nd legs are been shown live by setanta

Would the RDS be a runner..... If not I'd like to see it in Tolka.... Think its only fair that its in a neutral venue

Surely it would be unfair on Dundalk if we were at home in the final?? Tolka or Inchicore maybe??
This time next year........

Its a invitational competition so Setanta Sports pick and chose the rules to suit themselves. They will want a full stadium on the TV so cant see it being anywhere else but Tallaght. No matter what Dundalk think about it. Maybe in the RDS, but what does it hold?

Heard it's meant to be Tallaght as well. Dundalk have nothing to fear going there anyway and regardless of it being Rovers home ground, it's the perfect option. G'wan the Town.

Very good 1st half display last night after going behind so early, Finn was outstanding, really coming into his own lately when he's given licence to push on by O'Neill.  Sligo played well on the night also, 2nd half died a bit of a death.  Some bizarre refereeing decisions by the Nordie ref, made Buttimer look good a fair few times.  But delighted to be in the final, wherever it is.
We'll never die, we'll never die, we'll keep the Green Flag flying high......Shamrock Rovers will never die, we'll keep the Green Flag Flying high. 19 Leagues and 25 Cups.....

there is no way they will pay the rent for the RDS simple as its in Talla , venue was named at the start of the tournament in fairness.

On last night Sligo were well beaten again 4-2-4 was never going to work for Cooke .Very poor crowd(by rvs standards ) suppose it backs up what everyone has been saying,  i think we have seen the last of the setanta Cup  Cry

RDS is unavailable anyway becuase of the magners league, I have no problem with it been in talla, as long as theres an even split with tickets and so on then I cant see there been any complaints from dundalk, im looking forward to it, 9 years since we were in a final

Partly agree there ps. Fair enough to go for it early at the start being 2 goals behind but after going for it and geting the early goal the 4-2-4 system wasnt a good idea as you said. Should have tightened up after the goal cause there was 85 minutes to get another goal. Cookie is a fine manager but can let him self down with tactics sometimes.

At 18 years of age Horgan looks a real find, only player that done well for us.

Agree with you on that, and talking to a few Rovers fans last night they think it'll be 50/50 split between both clubs for qty of tickets

Poor crowd can be put down to a few factors I suppose, people prioritising their finances, supporters having their own midweek schoolboy/junior match or training and the lack of attraction of the competition itself.  Agree though, this could be its final year, Nordies don't seem to able to compete properly in it.

Can't see Dundalk bringing 3000 to Tallaght myself. How many do you think you'll bring Shoco?

i honestley havent a clue, i think a lot of people are put off going by the word "tallaght", they just dont like the idea of going there. the members on orielweb seem to think wel bring a big crowd and in fairness wev had great crowds for all our games in the comp so far so its hard to know

either way, we should still be given 50% of the tickets and if we dont sell them then tahst our own tough tittes if wer outnumbered up there
