My heart bleeds reading that poem in the OP.

I'll never, ever forget that day. As FW said, this could have been any of us going to a game and never coming home. It's still as shocking remembering it today, as it was watching it unfold in '89.

I hope the bereaved get some closure to this matter some time soon.

R.I.P The 96 and give them Justice so the families can be at peace.

Shot of Rafa crying, Never again do I think he should manage the club but this picture underlines his affection and respect for the 96 and how he has become personally affected by it since only arriving at Liverpool in 2004.

I was there in January '88 for a Sheff Wed v Everton 4th round FA Cup tie. It finished 1-1 and Peter Reid scored a rare goal. I was in the Leppings Lane end as well so can empathize with the supporters involved in the tragedy.

Not much worse than most English 1st division grounds at the time TBH. The thing I remember vividly was the tunnels you had to go through to get from the concourse into the stands. That of course was a major contributory factor to the disaster, as the fans couldn't get back out to the entrance end of the tunnels.

I merely stated fact. Even now those in the thread are ignoring Heysel. Liverpool was hit with two tragedies involving fans..........one is constantly overlooked in favour of the other.

Justice for the 96

and

Justice for the 39 too.

Ye fecking tool! The whole justice for 96 thing is that no one has been held accountable for the deaths.

The 39 people who also sadly died in Heysal got their justice, a dozen or so Liverpool fans got manslaughter.

i dont see how the ground was at fault here. hillsborough was a quality football ground, not like the character-less crap they build today. i went to hillsborough twice in the 80's, one of my favourite football grounds, terrible tragedy. as for "tunnels" they were just passages under the top tier, some of yas a painting it as some sort of really weird place, are ya sure yas were ever there, or have ya just been reading the sun ??

Zero chance of me ever picking up that rag never mind reading it. Still today the S*n rarely sells on Merseyside due to it's reaction to the tragedy which has been well documented. Maybe I wasn't actually there in '88 and just dreamt it.
