Topic: 10 days to world Cup draw. Posted: 14 Nov 2007 at 5:58pm |
I have a feeling we'll end up drawing england this time round. But of all the countries we could draw, which would be the best away trip?. Here are a few that would appeal to me. (granted I'd be traveling from the states!)
I would'nt mind the Greeks - trip to Athens would be nice.
Very fond memories of Malta in '89, and we usually beat them - although they may be seeded ahead of us in this draw!!.
Belgium - (Brussels is quite accessible from US)
Any of: Sweden /Iceland/Denmark/finland (full of blond birds)
any one have any preferences for any teams in particular?

I wouldn't mind drawing the 6 counties - I live a whole 10 minute walk from Windsor Park hahaha! Plus we could taunt about poaching their players
Wouldn't mind Scotland - that would be a good craic; saying that I wouldn't want to play them the form they're in
Leaving the EU is just that little bit frustrating - no trips to Russia, Israel or any other former soviet for that matter!

Playing devil's advocate, if we did draw England, the Croke Park brigade would be up in arms.its one thing letting the rugby gents in, but the soccer shower? still, it would give the papers loads to crow about.
London would be a class trip too.

The sequence now is, should he miss this, and Ireland's next penalty is scored, then the match and the progress are Ireland's....Timofte against Bonner..
