It'll be over in few days, so people won't have to pretend to be interested for much longer.

Apparently England is no longer the name of the country according to Sky. All you read and hear from them is the Lionesses won, are through to the final etc...

Spain won't want to lose another big game vs England. They were the better team in the QF last year. England will probably sh*thouse a win like vs Nigeria.

Aussies love a nickname so they're taking that off The Matildas. Same with the All Blacks too.

Hope they win it out. Opens up a whole new line of jokes at the expense of the men's team, like how they should get football lessons from the women, get them to show them how not to choke in finals tournaments, teach Harry Kane how to take a penalty etc etc.

Bottle job from Australia. Had great momentum going into this game and completely surrendered the initiative. First half looked like they got Vera Pauw in as guest manager. Sat deep, were passive and left Kerr up front isolated.
How anybody could look at England in this tournament and think that that was the best way to get a result against them is a mystery. China lost 6-1 doing something similar. Second half was a bit better, but they still needed Kerr to score a wonder goal to get them out of jail. That seemed to sum up Australia in this game - Kerr's back and she'll do the business for us. Previously they looked better introducing her later in games, but that's probably too much 20/20 hindsight. But then, after the wonder goal, just as the game is turning, they give England a second goal! Australia will be having nightmares for years over this one!

Kerr's miss and some poor defending cost the Aussies. No complaints though; the English were better overall and controlled most of the game without completely dominating. Overall it's a decent showing by Australia but they will know that they had their best chance to win it.
Can't see England losing against Spain. The Spanish aren't bad but England should be too strong. Especially with James back. The women's team are nowhere near as annoying as the men's.

The women's tournament has been a breath of fresh air compared to the absolute state of the men's game. Anyone who is still comparing the standard between both is a complete numpty. Women's football is absolutely booming

I also think that England are favourites now.
Spain v England Spain will need to own the ball - not only as a means to create chances, but it's the only way to prevent their defence from being exposed. They didn't create much against Sweden, but did take their chances when they arrived. They'll need to be that clinical again. However, if England turn up and show the Spanish no respect, get physical, and get the ball forward quickly, then they'll be the ones lifting the cup. -------------------------------------- Australia v Sweden The pressure is off, so I think Australia will take 3rd place. |

Watched a bit of the second half of this. Really takes adjusting to the drop in standard compared to the men's game, players' first touch etc. England in particular just looked like a bunch of hatchet merchants, Spain while not great were well ahead of them in terms of skill levels. At least we won't have to hear any more about the Lionesses for a while now, doubt they'll ever get as soft a run to a World Cup final again.

Deserved win the Spanish. Was one of the better games I’ve watched, have been impressed overall with the quality it’s really improved from 4 years ago

Spain were far more composed on the ball than England. Some of their one touch passing was class at times. Pointless comparing it to the men’s game.
