Apart from the fact that it has been pissing rain since last August, why do they water the Aviva moments before the team come out and at half time ?
So Ireland can zip the ball around quicker than the opposition is it?

If Norn Iron go to Casement we should move to Windsor. .
Old style ground. Not dominated by the Premium section. Easy bang out an atmosphere. Aviva is like a plush airport terminal.

If The EIRE want results let the grass grow 4 inches high and have mud in all the action areas like a cow field.

We should also narrow the pitch dimensions - we play on the largest size possible.
Here's the UEFA guidelines: 100 to 105 m long, 64 to 68 m wide (109–115 yd × 70–74 yd). Bring in the sides and ends so that we can hoof that ball easier and opposition won't have as much space to get in behind us.

Narrowing the pitch would also force us to play the passing game more often, which we all can see we're not currently capable of.

Technically yes it is to aid ball movement but it also helps keep grass healthy before play not 100% sure but think it may also be a requirement in laws of game too

Nice and narrow like Highbury. None of this put 'em under pressure business. We'll make a facking footballer out of Jayson Molumby yet.

I'd actually go further than this and suggest we should be looking to the narrow the dimensions of the pitch before England come in September

Surely if you narrow the pitch it’s easier to hoof the ball, and you have to do less chasing against the good technical teams.

The amount of crunching tackles last night was less than 3 or 4. Coleman made a good one late on. Lifted the crowd. For the other 90 minutes we couldn't get near them.

Best guess would be that the warm up stresses the pitch, and they water it before match, at HT and after the match after divets etc are fixed. Not sure if they have those UV things as well but maintaining a pitch of that quality would take constant maintenance

I was being sarcastic. I don't actually think that Jayson Molumby will become a technical marvel for us. |

The pitch only gets watered on one side at half time, whatever side we are playing into in the 2nd half. Keep an eye out for this next time, its no coincidence. It's to make the surface that little bit 'zippier' for passes.
