His boxing career was brief and uninspiring though his business partner in the gym he runs in west Belfast was very good in his day and fought at a high level. His partner appears to be uninvolved in crime but this character is well known and was arrested previously to face serious drug related charges. His identity is well known.

The Belfast Telegraph article referred to “ a well known former sportsman from Belfast who is known to the police.” As Paddy Barnes pointed out, the BT is not a paper you would read to be informed. No idea where the Olympic boxer b/s came from with regard to this individual.

They didn’t mention Barnes, social media speculators jumped to wrong conclusions from the language they did employ. On that, I would caution against using the real guy’s name on here ( legal reasons ).
