KÍ KLAKSVÍK HAVE DONE IT!

The Faroese club have beaten BK Häcken of Sweden and won two Champions League qualifying ties in the same season for the first time ever. They had beaten the Hungarian champions who currently are 4-0 up against shamrock Rovers in the previous round

They are now the first team from the Faroe Islands in history to qualify for the group stages of a European competition.
Stuff of dreams.

Antwerp game last night was crazy. 2 goal lead thrown away.  Two crazy goals given away by the keeper and last min penalty missed by Alderweld. Donestsk won 3-2. Shambles from Antwerp.  Keeper had a nightmare

Hard to think of a more frustrating player than Ousmane Dembele! Brilliant on his day, absolutely hopeless in the first half tonight.

Why do the commentators on RTE always side with English teams when playing against European teams. Tonight they are a disgrace, the way they are going on you'd swear Newcastle were a poor plucky little non league club...

It was his poxy finish against Liverpool, where he should have made it 4-0, that allowed Liverpool to win the Champions League. That should have ended the tie

Newcastle were robbed, another shocking referee decision! Glad they didn’t win mind, didn’t want to play football in the second half.

Polish referee was brilliant up to that point too.

Has Onana been responsible for at least one goal in every group game for Man Utd this season?

What a disaster of a signing

This is the best game ive seen all season, by a distance. Onana has been a horrific signing in hindsight, turns out you still need a GK who can save the odd shot.

I wouldn't agree with you there. It's individuals are letting United down at the moment and they're a far greater issue than the manager.

Ah you see there in lies the greater problem of not supporting the manager. Several of those signed were not the first choice of the manager. Case and point Harry Kane. Ten Hag’s number one target and someone the Glazers and Man Utd hierarchy deemed to old to pursue.

So to answer your question, in many cases the one who signed the players is John Murtaugh along with Darren Fletcher. Who went and signed what they believed to be the equivalent of the player the manager wanted.

The goalkeeper was Ten Hag’s first choice! He wasted £140m on first choice targets Antony and Mount! United have been grim to watch in the majority of the games this season, that’s on the manager simple as that.

Mount was signed to play offensively with Bruno and have Casemiro sitting, with a strong defence giving that protection to allow it.

Missing Shaw, Martinez and Casemiro for the majority of the season (Casemiro been off form when played) has meant that when ETH has attempted to play Mount, it has left him brutally exposed  and as a result has looked pretty poor.

McTominay has been playing the role instead and has been better than Mount, added to the fact Mount has also been injured for 50% of the time.

Rumours are he is going to he sold in Jan, but I think that's nonsense and will be given another chance at some point. I'm not that excited by him, but wouldn't write him off as a failure just yet.

Utd and Newcastle doing their best to not only mess up their European aspirations this season but also England's coefficient.  At risk now of only a top 4 getting into the CL next season and not a 5th team.

It's based off points by round, so they might have it sewn up by the semis, or we may need to wait till the finals

Supposedly the Leipzig player behind the keeper when the ball was knocked back in was interfering with play. Should of stood imo.

I'd say it's mainly because the games were kind of dead rubbers.

City and PSG won comfortably, as expected. Lazio actually pulled off a bit of a surprise.

Inter vs Atletico and Napoli vs Barcelona should be better games next week.

Forgot all about it until Monday. Pity Inter are playing Atletico Madrid and Napoli are playing Barca next week. Would've been better if it was Inter v Barca and Atletico Madrid v Napoli. Still two good games on paper and both Inter and Atletico would likely go through on merit. Still hard to call either game though. Reckon Porto v Arsenal will be tight enough as well while I could see PSV edging Dortmund on present form. Intriguing enough stuff this year apart from Man City and Real Madrid continuing to steamroll every team they play.

He's the great mystery in football.

You always see him near top of Serie A goalscorer charts yet anytime I've ever seen him play he's woeful LOL

"Morata's layoff straight to Dumfries."

That would sum him up alright.

I'm usually very critical of Morata and Martinez but I thought that was one of Martinez's better games. Morata was woeful.

He's up there with Ciro Immobile as the great mystery seems to bang in the goals but never for television.

Despite the criticism I think it could be a good tournament
 from the quarters on
Teams are evenly matched and any of them could win it.
The City team of last year would win it but they aren’t playing as well

Perfect draw would be:
Real v Atletico
Bayern v Dortmund
City v Arsenal
Barca v PSG

The CL is kicking into gear now. Very tasty fixtures.

I actually think it's a great draw for Arsenal at this stage. City versus Real over two legs as well is a great contest.

I'd give Arsenal a slight edge, but they might be distracted by a potential title run-in.

City vs Real is pretty even. City as slight favourites because of Real's injuries.

I'd fancy PSG purely because of Mbappé.

Atletico should bully Dortmund overall.

The winners of the City tie play the winners of the Arsenal tie in the semis

Very lobsided. Arguably the best 4 team's on the same side of the draw. And we arguably two of the best teams in Europe Liverpool and Leverkusen not even in the competition it presents a great opportunity for 1 of the teams on the soft side to win a title.

It could be Simeone's time.

The poor bastard will probably end up losing another final vs Real.

Psg to get to the final and Enrique to drop Mbappe out of spite

Similar to last year with City, Real and Bayern on one side and Inter coming through to get to the final.

Leverkusen just about scraping past Qarabag would suggest they've a long way to go yet to be in that category

I suggest that you watch that game.

They created 10 big chances and missed 7 of them. 71% possession and 33 shots.

And they are still unbeaten this season. 37 games played. 32 wins. Just 5 draws.

It's been a big enough sample size to consider them one of the best teams in Europe right now.

It'll likely fizzle out next season like it did for Napoli after losing Spalleti and Kim. Alonso and a few of the players will likely leave in the summer.
