Republic of Ireland Amateurs (Holders) compete in an Intermediate Group qualifying for the UEFA Regions Finals in June 2017. One of teh eight Finalists will host the event.

A Munster/Connaught selection beat a Leinster/Ulster selection to represent RoI this campaign. Known as Region 2 for the competition. Influenced by complaints from Connaught football reps, UEFA forced FAI to hold regional based play-off rounds as qualifiers for the last two Regions Cup. reps from Connaught football felt they weren't getting a chance even though RoI managers could choose from a larger pool of Players than their opponents. 'It's not the bloody Rugby' Infantino is quoted as saying. There was a carve up in the last campaign with Munster/Leinster selection dominating all Europe, even the Irish thought this was unfair and chnaged to a Mun/Conn v Lei/Uls

Manager Gerry Davis named his squad at the beginning of the month.

Two Clare lads Stephen Kelly and Eoin Hayes both Newmarket started today against Italy great achievement a credit to their county and hopefully can raise the profile of Soccer here further more
