Read there that, further to his mother's Scots Irish heritage, Steve Bruce's father and grandfather were in the Orange Order.
Not that he has a snowball's of getting the job but that would probably make him the first man with OO connections to get the job - unless Trap was a member of an Italian lodge.

Brian McDermott (currently Director of Football at Hibs) is another who has been spoken to recently, but not regarding the 'head coach' position.
Spitballing here, but could be in the same position that Brian Kerr filled for the March games.

Any rumours at this stage are meaningless to most i would suggest. We are all expecting some dud to be appointed and another 2-4 years of drivel. Were doomed for the forseeable until some 'golden generation' comes along (which won't happen of course).

Lawro was on OTB the other day saying the FAI should give Moyesy a call, that he wouldn't be in it for the money.

Does he follow Ireland, England or both? Mad that he wasn't selected for England, a class player by all accounts

By the time he was good enough to play for England he had played for us numerous times. Giles capped him before he was even at Brighton never mind at Liverpool.

Giles had the foresight to cap him as a teenager at Preston in the third division as was and tie him to Ireland.

Lawrenson has said in the past that he doesn’t regret playing for Ireland because when he signed for Liverpool, Bob Paisley specifically told him he was signed on the basis of his performances for Ireland. So if Lawrenson hadn’t been playing for Ireland, he might not have had the career he achieved
