Lads, a few here for you. I think they were rated higher because they had whacky hair and stood out from the crowd.
Was Gullit overrated? Tore it up at PSV for two years then made famous at Milan but only played 125 league games scoring 39 goals. Granted, Italian league less games but come on. Legendary status for that game and goal return? Wound down at Samp and Chelsea. It was the hair lads. Valderama, another one. Often referred to as one of the best attacking midfielders of all time. My bollox. 54 league goals and couldn’t do it in Europe? It’s the hair lads. Higuita, referred to as one of the greatest South American keepers of all time. My absolute bollox. The guy played f**k all games for a long career. It’s the hair, and the scorpion kick lads. Another one that really irks me is Nakata. It’s the dyed hair lads. He hardly kicked a ball yet is referred to as one of the greatest. Bollox. It’s because he’s Asian and once dyed his hair. One year at Roma like. It’s the hair |

I don't think you can put Gullit in an overrated conversation. He dosent belong on that list no chance. The rest i couldn't be sure on. Was Valderama regarded that highly tho?

Jude Bellingham is some player and probably doesn’t belong in this thread
But it’s a joke IMO that he’s favourite to win the ballon d’or Now if he’d had a season similar to Rodri last season then I’d understand it

Guillit no , Serie A was a tough league with some of the best defenders in world football I'd be interested to see his overall goal involvement ie assists
The others I'd agree

Ah go on now. Look at the season hes had in La Liga. If hes not already he will be the best midfielder in Europe if not the world in a few years. Smashing player.

Other players have had good seasons in their own domestic leagues too Is it not what you do in the Champions League or international tournaments that usually matters He’s certainly not the best MF already in Europe

Bellingham has been unreal! I would have Mbappe as the man to beat still.

Important to note he's favourite based on the "potential" of England performing well at the Euros as well as his current form.

Bellingham is top quality. He’s got everything.
No way is Gullit overrated, world class player.

They were speaking about him on a recent Quickly Kevin. 5th highest goal scoring keeper with 43 goals. Only retired in 2009. I thought he was well in his 30’s during Italia ‘90, was only 23. |

Scored 3 international goals, which would put him in line with some of our current strikers.

Gullit was riddled with injuries at Milan. He had multiple serious injuries. He was outstanding though. You have to realise how defensive Italian football was during that time. Especially before the back-pass rule was implement in 1992. A 1-0 win was the ideal game for most Italian coaches. Most players didn't score more than 15 goals in Serie A. Maradona won a capocannoniere with 15 goals. Gullit actually had a bit of renaissance at Sampdoria and helped them win The Coppa Italia. Milan bought him back immediately after it.
