Playing PSG in the final again. Hopefully that game not an indicator of the final. Would love to see him pick up a winners medal. Really admire the Irish lads who step aeay from the Uk system and try and make their mark.

He's had a great season, and absolutely no one saw it coming. Still annoyed he didn't get his Ireland debut.

Rock bottom of the league in December, now up to 8th & in a Cup final. Good chance of European football next season too.

Cup winners get Europa League. PSG of course will likely win, so that Europa spot will be added to the league table.
Lyon are 1pt behind Rennes (Conference League), 5pts behind Lens (Europa League).

Their last 4 games:
Monaco (2nd)
Lille (4th)
Clermont (18th)
Strasbourg (13th)

Then the Cup final.

Lyon are so much better to watch compared to earlier in the season.

Credited with the assist to make it 1-0. Looked like he won a header from a corner and it fell to Tolisso.

6 goal contributions in Ligue 1 now.

You'd be hard pressed to call it an assist, the Brest player headed it off his back in an attempt to clear it and it fell to Tolisso.

Fair now I've properly rewatched it again, but still counts. LOL
Point is his height makes him a weapon in these situations so good for him to have that ability. Hopefully good for us too but he's not playing for a midtable championship team at least so not good enough for us... Confused

A pretty insane season given they were relegation fodder earlier on.

Wings? They're only the band The Beatles could have been.

Of course there was, he was put there to try to win the games to get himself the job, why wouldn't he pick what he felt was the strongest XI? It wasn't his job to try out players for the future

And I thought Brady actually played fairly well against Belgium.

If JoS was looking to pick a team that won either or both games, he didn't do that well.

Maybe it's a rock and a hard place issue but if you put forward that you're picking teams to get results and don't, that's a failure. If you pick a team to experiment in friendlies, you kind of get a bit of a free pass (for a period/in isolation). Maybe he thought his best shot was 2 positive results but ended up between two barstools.

Yeah it was daft he didn't get at least a full game when it's friendlies. Collins, O'Shea and Omobamidiele aren't undroppable so giving another lad a chance is good squad building. Not saying he is a saviour like but until our current starters go up a level or two beyond what they are now you need to experiment in the hopes for better.

Should of known what was coming when he selected Brady in the squad - was always gonna be conservative selections from that point. JOS was never going to make massive changes and risk getting rinsed & possibly ending his managerial career before it started. As mentioned in previous posts its still baffling that he never found an opportunity to give JOB as few minutes.

It was 2x friendlies. It's quite easy to mix it up a little.

Ironically his chances of getting the results (and probably the Irish job) would've increased if he played an in form O'Brien over some/all of the games instead of running Coleman and Brady into the ground. He took a few games to get going but he's adapted superbly in France considering the jump in quality from the Belgian second tier. We're not going to get hammered if we give him an hour over the two games. And it's not like Collins, O'Shea and Omobamidele have made themselves undroppable this season with some of their individual defending.

As soon as Liam Scales gets a game or two for Celtic he's parachuted straight in. Lad plays in the French league, gambles on himself, and is just left to pick up splinters.

You can't just play all new lads without experienced lads in there and expect to get results.

That said, I'm not agreeing that JOS made the best use of the players he had etc

Apparrently JoS came out and stated that if he was the fulltime manager, he'd have picked a different squad as to what he picked with his remit only as an Interim.
I can't find the quote now so take with as much salt as suits, but it's interesting if true.
