As poor as Rovers were tonight, it has to be said again how much of a disgrace that pitch is.

Fair play to Dundalk, set their stall out to defend deep and feed of scraps, and worked out perfectly. Rovers were terrible, has to be said that Byrne takes far too any touches of the ball and slows it down to make it easy for opponents to get organised defensively, and then loses the ball half way in his own half which resulted in the goal.

Waterford full value for 3 points, fair play. I've said it before on more than one occasion, we need a decent keeper. I sense the other players have no confidence in Pohls. Need someone in before european games...

That team was built to compete in Europe where they have been far from successful  can win leagues in their sleep.

Success costs, anyone with an iota of knowledge of LOI history will be aware of that....and starting line up was missing Farrugia, Burke, Byrne, Gaffney, O'Neill, McEneff, Poom, Towell, Kavanagh, Grace...Big wage bill there for sure.

2 points dropped, none of the genuine challengers capitalised, so same as we were. Good 2 see our first team players getting back.

Wasn’t aware he moved for anything like that figure.

Bazunu’s deal paid off big time with the international clauses.

Wouldn't say that now, their academy regularly produce and sell on a fair few players.

Naj Razi moved to Como theres for €450k with the possibility of it hitting the €1m mark with add-ons.

The likes of Justin Ferizaj, Sinclair Armstrong, Aidomo Emakhu, Ike Orazi all moved on 6 figure fees too with add-ons.

You also had first team players in recent years the likes of Andy Lyons going to Blackpool for €350k, Aaron McEneff to Hearts for €200k and Trevor Clarke to Rotherham for €120k ..and albeit it small, €50k compensation for Mandroiu and Cotter.

Really? Did Como pay that much for him??

It's ultimately the same 2m hole that was causing the issues between private owners and fan owners last season though after they went out of Europe isn't it? And it was reported at the time.

So it's not 2m then and another 2.5 now? (I.e. 4.5m over 2 years).

Definitely the Rovers model is not sustainable without going on a run in Europe. They are not the only club in Europe who do their budgets based on that.

The rent on the stadium has gone up a bit. 70k in 2021, with the most recent being 98k. Big increase from 2026 though with it going up to 190k per annum.

Given the size of the squad and the quality of player there you’d have to imagine the wage bill is huge though.
