I read the mans book. He never stood a chance. I remember being in Blackpool one easter around the time Gascoigne was making a name for himself at Newcastle. We were in a pub and got chatting and having the craic with a few gerordie lads and lasses. One of the geordie lads who know gazza and his family well told me that he was a great player but that the people around him were all mad for the drink and headbangers.
I heard a story about gazza turning up at the bar in Dalymount at half time in his Middlesboro gear after being subbed in a match against Bohs. Anyone on here hear this story ?

Jimmy Greaves " Gazza is a very lonely man. George Best was a good friend of mine and with no disrespect to Gazza George was a far brighter sharper man than him a more rounded human being and the drink killed him. I fear for Gazza I really do.

Read jimmy greaves' article inthe mail. Very sad reading really. He knows gazza and based on his personality he doesn't give him a chance of overcoming this. |

Aye Gazza said today that he may drink again, if he does then i have no sympathy for him!
Even as an ex Gers and Newcastle player, for some strange reason i always had a soft spot for him, still will never forget his celebration in front of the Celtic fans in the 90s (w**ker)

Wouldn't wish it on him, but he's one of the most ignorant, crass louts to have ever played the game at the top level.
