If Ireland get test status would that signal an end to our best cricketers being 'promoted' to England or not necessarily?

fingers crossed it does go their way. haven't been paying much attention to it, I presume Afghanistan are in consideration too? or is it a case that both might be promoted to test status?

Lords against England. ECB said if we got Test status that we'd probably play them in our first Test match |

This being today had completely stepped me by
It would be some achievement, I'll be doing my best to make our first test, wherever that may be - presumably Zimbabwe?

Today is the big day.
If we get Test Status, it will be the greatest day in Ireland's cricket history, surpassing the many achievements on the pitch in recent years. We'll officially be among the top nations in the world game. Best of luck to William Deutrom and everyone who has got us this far. |

I will bow to your superior knowledge on all things cricket related planning, but could it be that the main issue with Irish cricket at the moment is that the players that did so well in 2007 and 2011 are now either retired or well past their sell-by-date with little quality new blood coming through, rather than blaming Bracewell? Maybe Simmonds saw the writing on the wall and chose a very opportune time to move on.
