Vast majority of their supporters are great craic and football people.
Will always be a few scumbags though

In this case, some journalists were in attendance and said the locals attacked them.
This was also backed up by the bar owner

Bizarre to have this game go ahead in Marseille. 

The city itself has enough young problem-kids from the rough sides of the city, eager for a confrontation.
L'OM have a very fanatic following as a club and again loads of those guys want to establish/enhance their name/fame.

Then to add Russian and English fans there is sheer madness, especially given the light of what happened there 18 years ago.

Did they not provoke an attack by chanting about ISIS though?
 
If they initiated those chants before they were attacked then you'd have to say they brought trouble upon themselves.

The English are their own worst enemies though. They are simply not liked throughout continental Europe, and not just in the football context. They have a reputation for being arrogant and not having respect for other cultures and this almost invites trouble onto them from the locals.
